Try-outs for Spring 2014 - April 5th 2014, 9am.

Looking to go to law school? Want to gain valuable experience in adovacy before you go? Then the Moot Court Organization may be what you're looking for. For the upcoming season, we are looking for eight of the brightest UCF students to join our Travel Team. Absolutely no prior experience in oral advocacy or debate is required to try out. All we ask of you is to present a six minute argument for either the Petitioner or Respondent in the case given to you. In order to support your argument and to truly get the feel of a Moot Court we will allow students to use three specific cases to bolster your argument.

If you would like to try-out please send us a message through the "Contact Us" page that has your major/minor, academic year, and email. Information regarding the location, argument materials, and general argument tips will be sent out to each email specifically.

We look forward to working with you this upcoming season!

96.5 WDBO Radio Debate - Battle Over the Borders

March 9th, 2013

Earlier this week a handful of our Mooters were able to participate in a second, live radio debate. With the debate over comprehensive immigration reform continuing to be a popular topic of discussion among the public and politicians, it only seemed right that we tackle the issue for this debate. Our Mooters once again divided into two opposing sides; one in support for stricter immigration laws and the other in support for more accepting immigration laws. For this debate, however, we also had the opportunity to hear the input of two renowned thinkers: WDBO's very own Dick J. Batchelor and attorney Tico Perez.

We would, once again, like to thank the two attorneys that guided our research for this debate, Meghan Heesch and Dina Elmusa ,along with our moderator Mel Robbins and the rest of the WDBO crew. We'd also like to thank the Center for Law and Policy. Links to the WDBO web page and the actual video are posted below.

96.5 WDBO Radio Debate - 2nd Amendment: Locked and Loaded
January 31st, 2013

Due to the incredible planning of the Center for Law and Policy, WDBO and the College of Health and Public Affairs, a group of our Mooters were able to bring their debate expertise to the public sphere. After the tragic events in Aurora, Colorado and Sandy Hook, New Jersey, the issue of gun control was, once again, brought to the forefront of public discourse. In order to discuss this issue, members of the Moot Court Club divided into two sides; one to argue for stricter gun laws and the other to argue against it. At the end of the discussion two undecided members were asked for their opinion on the matter.

We thank the two attorney coaches who helped us prepare for this debate, Roger Scott and David Fussell, along with Mel Robbins and the WDBO crew for this great opportunity. Links to the WDBO web page and the actual video are posted below.
